It's here! Version 2.1 of FormAssembly On-Site is brimming with new features and improvements. Here's a quick overview of what we added in this new release.

Usability

Several new enhancements make the Form Builder easier to use. A new "Undo" functionality allows unwanted changes to be easily reverted. The preview's Edit Menu allows quick access to an element's properties panel. The preview also automatically brings into view and highlights the element being edited. Other improvements include color-coded outline, independant scroll bars, improved tab usability, improved dialog boxes, and more...

Design

Error message now have a more consistent layout, with separate messages for required sections and required fields. A new iPad-specific stylesheet automatically optimizes forms for use on the iPad.

New Web Form Theme Editor

Theme Editor

This new feature allows you to easily style your web forms to match a department's visual identity, a seasonal theme, or an event-specific branding.

Access to this feature is restricted by default.

To enable this feature:
  1. Log in as an administrator.
  2. Go to the "Admin" tab, then open the "Settings" tab. There, select "User Settings."
  3. Select the desired role (e.g. Author).
  4. Scroll down and check the box next to "Can create themes."

Note: Users must log out and log back in for the new permissions to apply.

Using the Theme Editor

To use the Theme Editor, first open an existing form, or build one and save it. Within the Form Builder, select the Theme Editor tab.

Basic Editing

In the Basic Editing panel, you'll find quick and easy ways to customize your form. You can choose a color scheme, set typography and border styles, and apply some special effects.

When editing, all style selections display immediately in the Preview pane. Once you've settled on your design, name your theme and save it.

Browse Themes

The Browse Themes area stores predefined themes and any custom themes you create. To access these, click the "Browse Themes..." button in the Theme Editor.

Advanced Editing

The "Advanced Editing" tab gives you even more control over the look of your form. You can change colors, fonts, sizes, borders and more to modify any element of the form. As always, if you require absolute control over your form's styling, the Custom Code box for CSS is available in the Advanced panel of the Form Builder.

Managing Themes

Themes created by users are private and only available for use by the creating account unless an administrator makes the theme public.

To make a theme public:
  1. Log in as an administrator.
  2. On the "Admin" tab, select "Forms" them open the "Form Themes" tab.
  3. Click the "Make public" link next to the desired theme.
To use a theme on a new form:
  1. Open or create the form in the Form Builder.
  2. In the Form Builder, click the Theme Editor tab.
  3. In the Theme Editor, select "Browse Themes."
  4. Select the desired theme by clicking its thumbnail, then click "Apply this theme to my form."

New and Improved Connectors

Google Spreadsheet Integration

FormAssembly now integrates directly with Google Spreadsheets to give you another export and reporting option.

Enhanced Salesforce Connectors

The entirely redesigned connector adds lookup and branching capabilities and works better with multi-object setups.

More Features and Usability Improvements

New Summary Page Displays At-A-Glance Form Information

Each form in your account now has a summary tab which provides at-a-glance information. The summary tab includes information on email notifications, acknowledgment pages, connectors, and more. The Summary tab appears automatically when you exit the Form Builder, and can always be accessed by clicking the form's title in the My Forms list.

New "Reopen for Editing" feature

With the new "Reopen for Editing" feature, the owner of the form can re-open a submitted response for further editing by the respondent. The respondent will receive a customized email with the instructions needed to resume the form.

To reopen a response:
  1. Select the response that needs to be edited from the list on the "My Responses" page.
  2. Click the "Reopen for Editing" button.
  3. Edit the message as necessary, and click "Reopen Response and Send Email."

Your respondent will be able to access the most recent revision of the form, using the password contained in the email and their email address. The respondent can then submit the form as usual.
